I didn't know what a stoma cover was.  The first site that I opened had pictures of various covers and an explanation as to what they are and why it's needed.  One of the covers on the page is crocheted.  Yours looks identical to that one.  Great job!  What a wonderful thing to do for your friend!!

Q: What is a Stoma cover for? 

A: It's to cover someones air way opening in the neck as to avoid-Liquid from seeping out or from stuff coming up/out when you laugh or cough..aka a bib to cover the hole and keep one's neck area dry..
