End of hook

I have what may be a silly question, why is the end of the crochet hook pointed? I have been crocheting for about a year a d have always wondered this lol. :)

By the end are you referring to the head where the hook is or the opposite end without a hook?

Here is a pic of what I am talking about. Its a very small point but I was curious lol. I use Boye. I notice everything :)

Technical issue with "mold release" and finisihing. Varies manufacturer to manufacturer.

Had to go pull out my 3 cases of hooks, because I never noticed. :lol.

I have Boye, Bates, Rose and a few other brands. It only seems to be on the Boye hooks.

It is only really notable on the H and larger hooks, the smaller ones appear to be a rounder point. That is why I didn't notice, I rarely use a hook larger than G. Maybe write to boye and ask them if there is a reason??? :think
