what is bobbin crochet?

I honestly don't know. All I come up with Googling it is the bobble stitch, which that piece doesn't seem to be made with.

That looks like a neat little thing. I haven't seen it before and I've never heard of bobbin crochet.

I saw some older ladies doing bobbin crochet at the county fair. It looked too intense for me. I was amazed they had a design pinned out to a board and were weaving with thread on a bobbin... it's hard to explain. It made very lacy dainty things.

My boyfriend said it is also sometimes called pillow lace or pillow crochet... I guess because the board is on a pillow in the workers lap.

Unless I missed something, which I very well probably did, Tampadoll uses bobbins to hold different yarn colors to crochet images into her afghans.

Much different than what bobbin crocheting is.

Weaving with the bobbin, that sounds familar.

Could it be the same as tatting? Tatting uses a bobbin and a weaving technique sort of.

I never heard of bobbin crochet, but it might be an old description for bobbin lace. Bobbin lace is VERY popular in spanish countries. They make bobbin lace for their baby's outfits and such. They also add it to their tablecloths and such around the house.
