One of my intentions for the new year is to get caught up with a crochet-along I am involved in using Jean Leinhauser's 101 Crochet Squares.

 

This square employed a very interesting technique for the first round. You can read about the adventure in full at this blog post. The photo on the right is the flower that is formed by the first round of crochet with an interesting and elegant technique. The photo on the right is the completed square.

It is an absolutely delightful square to make. I am currently in a crochet-along that uses this book, and I have learned something from every single square. I had thought the flower might be a good candidate for a scarf.
