Please tell me an easy scarf pattern to use

suzyq2

Question

It's suzy again. I'm not going to use the shell stitch for my scarf.

What is an easy, FOOLPROOF way to crochet a scarf? It is really

important for my self-esteem to complete at least one project.

Please help me !! :)

You can make a scarf out of just about any stitch I'd imagine. You can use simple single crochets, half double crochets or double crochets. Easy stitches you just repeat over and over until your scarf is as long as you'd like it.

Try looking at www.crochetpatterncentral.com under the scarves section. There are many different skill levels represented there.

If you need help reading something in the pattern the people here will help you.

www.lionbrand.com has some easy scarf patterns...

like this one uses just single crochet: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/chs-scarf.html

This is an easy diagonal scarf that uses front post double crochet: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/cwes-diagonalShawl.html

Here's a chenille one-skein scarf using just single crochet: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/cctq-oneskeinscarf.html

Here's a beginner scarf using just double crochet:

http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/khs-oneSkeinHatScarf.html

I find in general, lionbrand has many beginner patterns. Good luck and have fun with it!

I am making a scarf right now of just single crochets and an N hook with a thicker yarn and I made the starting chain as long as I wanted my scarf about 160 chains I didn't really count just held it to where I thought it was long enough for me since I love really long scarves and then started sc in it. I am about 1/3 of a way through even taught myself how to start a second skein of yarn in this one :)

I'm a beginning crocheter, as well, and am currently doing this pattern from Lion: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/chs-2colorScarf.html

It is really easy, although it did take me a little while to get used to the Homespun yarn. It is very "nubby" and can make it challenging to see the stitches until you get used to it. Once you start, though, you'll fly through it -- I think I crocheted a quarter of the total scarf last night!

Good luck!

I made 2 scarves this weekend for christmas presents

If you're using a nice yarn....use a big ol hook (i used L) and ch 10, turn, sc 10, turn, *dc 10* add fringe. Worked up super quick and looks nice enough to wear with suit jackets or as a fancy scarf--might not be the warmest but its certainly pretty!
