A collector's treasure

Recommended Posts

I happened to be browsing for Christmas decs at the St. Vincent DePaul store when I saw a pile of newspaper like items. A closer look revealed they were "Needlecraft" newspapers/magazines from 1914 and 1915. I love old needlework books and patterns but they are getting very hard to find. There are eight of them. Just reading the old patterns as well as ads and stories is great fun. The best part was they only cost a dollar each. Usually they run from $8.00 (poor condition) to $30.00 (very good condition) each.

I just gave myself a Christmas gift early :yay

Very cool! A couple of years ago my SIL was at a rummage sale and picked up a 'pile' of old crochet patterns for me, mostly clippings & tear-off pamplets, for just a couple of $. There were a lot of Needlework clippings, not the whole newspaper unfortunately.

If you collect vintage patterns you probably already know this, but there are some scanned Needlework patterns at antiquepatterns.org as well.
