Crochet in a Kids' Book

My daughter and I are reading The Fabled Fouth Graders of Aesop Elementary School, by Candace Fleming.

It's funny. AND toward the end of the book there's a whole chapter about a boy named Ernest who crochets! He loves to crochet. He crochets bathrobes, glue bottle cozies, towels! At first, he's embarrassed to admit it. Then his classmates find out and...ask him to teach them how to crochet, too!

Yay for crochet in books!

It's a very silly book--so I liked it a lot. My daughter laughed out loud several times. Candace Fleming is a very good writer.

You might also look into Eva Ibbotson. We've read a couple of her books, The Secret of Platform 13, and Island of the Aunts. Both were fun reads.
