I love to help crocheters turn the old into something new and pretty! Do you have a simple, favorite tote, bag of purse pattern that you can make with your eyes closed?

Use Gladys Braid to spruce it up and give it a bit more zing and just turn it into something entirely new! ;)

You will find the FREE tutorial here:

Just pull out of that tote you can make in a jiffy and add this braid to it in stunning, contrasting colors and you will have an eye popper!

I enjoyed all of her braids at her site! But... I may be having a brain malfunction, but I cannot find where she actually makes the ropes she braids. Are they done with a Wonder Knitter? She says make the crocheted ropes as previously discussed but I cannot find them!

Thank you all for your nice comments! DebraKay, the ropes are 100% crocheted. You can find the tutorial on how to make them at my blog. But to make it easier for you, here is the direct link:

Thank you so much! I think there might be a typo in the instructions for the basic cord (Row 2) but I am not sure as it might be I'm brain-locked again and just misinterpreting. Your directions say:

"Row 2- Insert hook in little loop that formed on the side of the sc and pull up yarn, you and complete sc. Turn." (I added the underlining)

Should the underlined "you" actually be "yo" as in yarn over? If not, then I am missing something and need to study it a little further. I might have gotten muddled with the basic cord, crossed cord, rope, braid, etc..... I can crochet-to-town once I "get it" but I am sometimes slow on the uptake. :hook
