loopy1
Cheryl, my 47 yr old niece (my sister's daughter) passed on December 18. She had glioblastoma which, from what I've read, is the most aggressive form of brain cancer...it went really fast and thankfully, she didn't suffer. So, I'm asking for 12" squares, medium worsted weight 100% acrylic such as Red Heart Super Saver, to make a 48" x 60" comfortghan for Caroline, her 10yo daughter (4x5 12") squares. Colors: light shades of pink light shades of purple off-white cream any solid or combo of colors. I also want to make one for Caroline's two cousins. - Jena, 11yo, the same colors as Caroline's and - Sean, 13yo any black & gray camo Vanna's Choice Charcoal Print RHSS Zebra RHSS Urban Camo Solid light or faded gray Any combo of the gray, black, multi/variegated/camo ANY PATTERN will most certainly be appreciated but here are some links to some free patterns that I like: For the girls: I have made these and really like them: http://www.yarncrazy.com/cable-hearts http://myblueangels.blogspot.com/2010/07/neverending-love-12-square.html For any of the children: I have made this one and think it would work well with the multis or with one of the solid colors alternating with a multi: http://thecrochetdudepatterns.blogspot.com/2005/04/cat-tracks.html Have never made these: http://thecrochetdudepatterns.blogspot.com/2005/04/groovy-loops.html http://blog.sewhooked.org/2009/08/04/crochet-chained-compass-motif-with-variations/ http://dayna.tdgservices.com/ShowPattern.aspx?PatternID=79 Here is a square designed by the Ville's champygirl (I have a wip for an afghan using this pattern and it works up fast...using 2 colors): http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=111165 Not sure if this one could be done with 3 colors (a multi, light gray & black) or not. Design and creativity are not my forte...just give me a pattern to work with and tell me what colors to use and when. http://qualitycrochet4fun.blogspot.com/2008/08/free-cross-and-diamond-12-square.html Link for Crochet Pattern Central, 12 inch squares: http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/12in_squares.php If you have any suggestions for patterns, please let me know. I called my sister this afternoon as they were just getting home from the Hospice House. That's when I learned Cheryl had passed at 1:45pm Eastern time. They live in Florida, I live in Michigan and I'm not able to make the trip. I haven't mentioned anything to my sister about any ghans and I was calling to ask about Caroline's favorite colors but didn't. I'll call her again tomorrow and ask. imanurse55
I'm hoping to get a couple done this week- I have to work six days this week (maybe even 7), but I'll do the best I can. At the very least, hopefully I'll have them done within 2 wks.

loopy1
Thank you, Brenda, dmc & Mary Jo for all the lovely squares! :2hug All the patterns and the work are fantastic! As you scroll through the pics you can see who made each one. At this point, I've designated the 1st 4 for Jena, will use the next 4 for Caroline and the last 3 for Sean. I may change my mind on the arrangement of the girls' squares. p.s. Brenda made 2 of the Butterfly Garden squares but I only put in one picture (#4). There will be a Butterfly square in each of the girls' afghans.

loopy1
PLEASE NOTE A FEW CHANGES IN THE 1ST POST: For Sean, any black & gray camo (RHSS Platoon and Vanna's Choice Charcoal Print). Also, any solid or 2-color light or faded gray and black squares will also be okay for his afghan. Thanks!
loopy1
:bumping this thread up. I know this has come at a bad time of the year but I really need squares for these ghans. Also, the colors in the pictures did not come out right so please see the 1st post for an idea as to what I'm looking for. Any questions, please ask. Thanks! Becky Morgan
I should be able to get mine in the mail now. We've all been so sick that none of us even felt like putting the Christmas tree back in the attic until today. After I get the squares out to everyone who had them promised, I'll get back to the two I'm supposed to be making for the boy and girl in Dallas... So sorry you've all been ill and hope you're all feeling much better now. We're not as young as we used to be and it took us about a week or so to finally get our tree up. By then it was right at Christmas and it's still up. May take it down by Easter. Thank you very much for helping!

Okay, my photographing skills stink but I'm going with these for now. Three lovely squares received from Cindy aka Gardener. Thank you, Cindy! The last 3 squares are from Sherri aka SheffnJerri. loopy1
I really appreciate all the squares received so far and am overwhelmed by the generosity. However, I really could use many more. My plan is to make 3 ghans and so far I have about 16 squares. Need 20 for each ghan. I know you wonderful people are out there. Please help me get these comfortghans to my great nieces and great nephew. Thank you!
