stitch combo help

crazycrochet

Question

I am looking for a nice stitch combo for a womans shawl. I am using J hook and ww yarn. I would like to continue to use a J or K hook, because they are about the size of a 10 knitting needle. I am using the crochet seed stitch right now, that is sc, dc across and dc in the sc, and sc in the dc the next row. I am not sure that I like it. Any one have any good suggestions? Thanks in advance.

That is a pretty stitch, but it's really heavy & solid, is that what you're after for a shawl? I guess I think lacier when I think of shawls.

Have you thought of browsing through crochetpatterncentral.com? Sometimes I'll find a sweater stitch pattern and use it on a pillow cover or whatever, you don't have to look at just shawls.

The lion brand site has a bunch of stitch patterns too. At the top of the page under the "learning center" tab, there is a link that says "stitch finder" - and they are all patterns you could do with whatever yarn and hook you like.
