My Thrift Shop Find: a small Hairpin Lace Fork

I found this in a Thrift Shop and got it for 75¢.

 

 

I can see why they named this hairpin lace. This hook is almost as small as a hairpin.

 

I haven't used it yet because I think even a size 20 thread would be too big for it.

You got to love thrift shops. Where else would you find such neat items for such a reasonable price. I'm looking forward to seeing what you make with that hairpin lace fork.

I just found 2 of those still on the cards the other day at a junk sale! I've never done hairpin lace.

Neat find! Can you imagine doing hairpin lace on an actual hairpin?! That is how it got it's name! I have only made a couple HPL items (scarves, baby blankets) but it is fun to do!

It is pretty firm. It isn't as flexible as a real bobby pin. The slide keeps it very stable.

MaryPat, I'm guessing what you've got is stiffer than the hairpins I have and have seen.

 

The slide was a very nifty idea.

I enjoy the creativity of using what one has to make beautiful things. That was quite an inventive notion to make lace on a hairpin.
