chain free foundation stitches

Recommended Posts

:thinkI do not have a link for you but basicly, all you do is make a couple of CH, work a SC into the CH then all of the following SCs are worked into the side of the previous SC.

You can go under all of the stich so the top of the stitch is all that is below the hook or you can go into just one loop on the side of the stitch.

If you want to make a nice firm tie to thread through something, just do the same thing but turn the piece over after each stitch so you are working into the opposite side of each stitch.

Hope this helps.

Have fun.

Doris Chan also has written her version of the Base Chain/Single Crochet in the Glossary of "Everyday Crochet". Her method uses as slightly shorter 1st and last base ch/sc stitich to compress the ends of the foundation to keep the ends a little neater in the 1st row, and there are accompanying diagrams.
