Fast Crochet

Hi! I have a question. Let's say your crocheting in a contest, and you crochet an item with different stitches--let's say Ch, Sc, Dc, and Trc. How many "stitches" would each stitch be worth? I was on hookandneedledesigns.com, and Mrs. Gentry crocheted

 

853 trc = 5113 sts.

 

So how many was each trc worth? What about if she did dc?... sc?....chs? Thanks!

i believe it is yarn wraps. but i may be wrong.. its happened before.

I've wondered the same thing. Like when I make an afghan, how many individual stitches really went into this project? Unfortunately, I have no clue how to answer our question!

I have no idea but if it was me counting stitches, then every completed stitch would be counted as a stitch, so a trc would be 1 stitch. For speed purposes I would stick to sc.

Crocheting is a hobby, not a sport. Who cares how fast you crochet? The faster I go, the less accurate I am. I would rather go slower then have to frog, frog, frog.

I'm definitely NOT a fan of competition for its own sake and frankly when they shove that into something like this it makes me crazy. Why, oh why take the fun out of turning out something pretty/useful to see "who" can do it faster???
