Warped Granny squares

My theory is that there's more "structure" on the corners, so they hold the actual shape better - the sides have less, so they don't hold the shape so well and seem to "pull" towards the center.

 

I've found that edging helps, and then (although I haven't done a blanket piecing granny squares together) I believe that when you sew them together the shape will be fine.

 

That's just my take on it - take my :twocents for what they're worth, lol. I could be wrong.
