WEIRD ... but might work ... using plastic balls for children's head forms

Recommended Posts

My kids are all grown & gone, so I don't have children around the house anymore for sizing children's crocheted items on ... and I cannot find any children's size styroform wig heads (called all the local wig shops in Las Vegas) ... and I need 'something' for measuring & making different sized caps & hats for children (primarily chemo caps/hats for charities).

:eek LIGHT BULB GOES OFF! :eek

I'm going to measure some of my friend's children's heads ... about age 5, age 7, and age 10 ... then I'm off to my local Wal-Mart ... will check for the craft department (for HUGE styrofoam balls) and the toy department (for bouncy balls) in the sizes of children's heads for various age groups.

I'll admit it's a outright weird 'gadget' or way for sizing kid's caps & hats ... but you know, I think it just might work ... and it won't cost a fortune!

I'll be interested in hearing what y'all think about my far-fetched idea!

:cheer

I use balloons also. You can blow them up to the size you want, then let the air out when you are done so you can use them again. Be sure to buy the round ones though.:)
