Knitting to Crochet

Hi Everyone

 

Question is does anyone know how to change knitting into crochet patterns? I love this pattern but its knitting. I tried the self help sites that show and tell you how to do this but DUHHHHHHHH Im totally lost....http://www.modadea.com/patterns/LM0158.htm

 

Heres the knitting pattern

Okay, I am no expert but have read a book about translating from knit to crochet. This is an interpretation of the pattern at the site listed above. The stitch counts are the same.

 

So Ch 66 (70, 74); ch 1, turn sc across. Continue in sc rows till the pattern measures 6 (6.5", 7") from the beginning.

 

Sl st 4 st at beginning of next 2 rows, sc dec at beginning and end of the next 4 rows. Maintain number of sc on following rows until armhole measures 8 (8.5", 9").

 

Sl st 4 st at beginning of next 2 rows, sc dec twice at beginning of next 2 rows, sc dec 3 times to beg of next 2 rows. Fasten off.

 

Ch 12 (14, 16); *ch 1, turn, sc across. Sc inc twice at beg of next row. Repeat from * 6 times. Ch 1, turn, sc across with sc inc in last sc on row. Repeat last row 3 times. Maintain number of sc on following rows until side (straight) edge measures 6" (6.5", 7"). Mark first sc at center front edge of last row.

 

Sl st 4 st at beg and sc dec at end of next row. Maintain number of sc on next row. Sc dec at armhole edge on next 4 rows and AT THE SAME TIME sc dec at the neck edge every 4th row from previous dec 8 (9, 10) times. Maintain number of sc on following rows until armhole measures same as back to shoulder.

 

St st 4 st at beg of next row. Sc next row. Sl st 4 st at beg of next row. Sc next row. Fasten off.

 

 

This is as far as I have gotten so far. Let me know if it is making any sense and if you need me to continue. May not turn out 100% exact but this is my best interpretation.

Someone recently posted a book that helps you understand how to convert knit patterns to crochet patterns...I think it was titled from needles to hooks: how to convert knit to crochet...I am sorry that I don't remember the author...you should take a look through the publication forum...hope this helps!

And be sure to work a gauge swatch first. I've converted a few knit patterns to crochet and it usually works out quite nicely.
