"celtic knot " afghan

EEE_mom

Question

A while back I was looking around for afghan patterns and saw this on the cover of a magazine and cannot find it again anywhere!

It was done in granny squares - aran, with a contrasting green interweaving border

It is a beautiful blanket - i'm thinking of doing a variation of it for my cousins upcoming baby shower ( since they are very irish and are not finding out the gender of the baby)

but I really need to see the picture again for reference since I am having trouble figuring out how the green squares go around the edge

Granny Square -

Thank you so much for looking :manyheart

I actually came across a blog yesterday evening of someone who is or was working on the afghan

(it is a little ways down the page)

and as luck would have it, this is exactly the part of the afghan that I couldnt remember how they had patterned the border

I will be starting on it in the next few days and will post my progress :yarn

Wasn't this pattern on a free tear-off sheet at your LYS? Or maybe it was a thin 'extra' mag insert? Seems I have seen it too and may have a copy. I'll check today.

After a long search, I've discovered the pattern I was thinking of wasn't like the one you were talking about. Mine is an insert called "Contest Favorites from Crochet with Heart", the afghan is called "Braided Miles Afghan". It's done in off-white and two shades of green.

YES! thank you so much Donna Marie for that pattern! it is EXACTLY what I was looking for.:clap

The picture that I'd originally seen was on the cover of some crochet magazine and was done in like an emerald green, a kelly green and aran

Granny, you really have to SEE this pattern worked in the contrasting colors to really appreciate the beauty of this simple design - the only drawback is that unless I chose to use REALLY small squares, I don't believe I will be making it for the new baby. The amount of squares needed to complete the pattern properly makes it impossible, although it would be PERFECT as a bedspread for a bridal shower!
