Little Oinker (covers an egg)

Sorry there is no picture, I am blind! Since everyone loved my Littlest Ever Snowman I thought I'd post this one for Easter. He works up quickly and is made all in one piece!

 

Little Oinker

 

This little cutie is made in one piece!

 

Size: 3-1/2 inches long.

 

Materials: Worsted weight yarn, pink; plastic egg or stuffing; G

crochet hook; yarn needle. & C for tail

 

Popcorn: Work 4 dc in st indicated, drop lp from hook and insert

hook in first dc made, pick up dropped lp and draw through st.

 

Rnd 1: Starting at snout, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with

sl st in back lp of first sc.

 

Rnd 2: Working in back lps only, sc in each sc around, join.

 

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in first sc, 2 sc in nt sc, (sc in nt sc, 2 sc in

nt sc) around, join: 9.

 

Rnd 4: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around, join: 18.

 

Rnds 5 & 6: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join.

 

Rnd 8: Ch 1, sc in first 7 sc; for ear, working in front lp of nt

st, (sl st, ch 1, dc, ch 1, sl st) in nt st; sc in nt 3 sts; for

2nd ear work (sl st, ch 1, dc, ch 1, sl st) in front lp of nt st;

sc in last 6 sc, join.

 

Rnd 9: Ch 1, sc in first sc, 2 sc in nt sc; for leg work popcorn,

2 sc in nt sc, (sc in nt 2 sc, 2 sc in nt sc) around to last 3 sc

(working sc in back lps behind ears), 2 sc in nt sc, for leg work

popcorn, 2 sc in last sc, join: 24.

 

Rnds 10 & 11: ch 1, sc in each st around, join.

 

Rnd 12: Ch 1, sc in first 2 sc, work popcorn for hind leg (make

sure legs are lined up; if necessary, work an extra st or work one

less to ensure this), sc around to center top of body; for tail, ch

5 tightly, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; sc

around to last few sts and work the 2nd leg, again placing it

behind front leg, sc in last st or 2, join.

 

Rnd 13: Ch 1, sc in first sc, (sk nt sc, sc in nt 2 sc) around,

join: 12.

 

Rnd 14: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join. Insert egg if one is used

or stuff.

 

Rnd 15: Ch 1, sc in first sc, (sk nt sc, sc in nt sc) around, join

and fasten off leaving a 6 inch tail for sewing. Sew opening

closed.

I would appreciate it too if someone posts a picture. I sure wish I could do that for all of you! He is simple and yet that makes him cuter! (I don't mean to boast!)

Now I definately cannot wait to make it! It is just adorable. I may wait til AFTER Easter. It wil give me sometine to do with the eggs after the kids eat all the candy. Mostly they just break them. I might be able to talk them out of them if I make one for them...

Thanks for posting a picture. I know how much more desireable it is to see what it will look like. If you make it for small children, please stuff it rather than using the eggs! Brenda
