Help!!!yarnshops In Raleigh Carolina???

Recommended Posts

Hi , I live in the UK and haven't been to the USA for over 18 years now but my husband is going to Raleigh for a week on 20th January and of course I want him to do some shopping for me!!!!

I want some Lion brand suede yarn and some Muench Touch Me rayon , as well as some Lion brand wool, all for making the patterns in Crochet! magazine or USA crochet books such as Nicky Epsteins crocheted flowers...

CAN ANYONE HELP ME by replying and stating where is there a yarn shop in Raleigh PLEASE???

If I can give him a shopping list and an address it's soooo much more likely that at least something might come of it....;)

I'm also asking for the latest copy of Crochet! magazine which should be easy to buy in a mall, shouldn't it? :think

please please please : can someone help?

I promise I'll make it all into things I will put the photos on my blog with comments or my own pattern etc etc....:yes

I would recommend going to a Michaels or ACMoore for the yarns you are looking for. They both have stores in that area. I say this because my local yarn store only carries specialty stuff, and not the lionbrand yarns.

websites http://www.michaels.com and http://www.acmoore.com both have ways to locate store with addresses. You can usually get a voucher for 40% off one item too.

I would have him pick up some caron simply soft or redheart soft too, because they are inexpensive but lovely to work with.

plus the exchange rate makes things here really cheap.

Mary Jo, i never thought of using Google maps to search for yarn shops, that is pretty cool!

Here is what the Lion Brand website says as far as stores that carry their yarn in the area http://cache.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/lionbrand/store-locator.cgi Walmart and Michaels, it says...from my experience with both of these chains (in Missouri), i'd say they may or may not have the specific yarn you want.

Here is Muench store locator, you have to scroll down about halfway to find the NC stores, and there is one in Raleigh http://www.muenchyarns.com/Pages/Store%20Locator/StoresNYtoPA.html

I'm not really familiar with Muench yarns, so I could be wrong, but from the Muench website it looks like Muench imports GGH yarns, and the GGH website has this list of stores http://www.ggh-garn.de/bezugsquellen_gb_en.php

GREAT YARNS, INC. rebeccaicon.jpg

1208 RIDGE RD.

RALEIGH, NC 27607

919-832-3599

..I LOVE this shop... depending where your hubby will be he will need to take the Wade Ave exit off 440 or I 40. It is in a shopping center ( Ridge Rd Shopping Center) to the left containing a Whole Foods grocery and a free standing restaurant called TGI Friday's... the yarn shop will be to the left of the grocery store facing it ( it is a rather small shop), next to a wine shop...

... I hope this helps... too bad you won't be along we could have lunch and shop together!!

I was just going to suggest Great Yarns! When I lived in Cary I was here, like...every other week at least!

If he's going to be in the Chapel Hill area at all there is a slightly bigger LYS that is the sister store to Great Yarns. In my Carrboro days I whiled away many an hour in there.

The yarn stores are one of the things I miss most about the area . Good luck finding what you want!
