Halp! I need inspiration!

Recommended Posts

Ok...I have a dilemma... My best friend's husband is EXTREMELY hard to shop for, and even harder to *make* gifts for. I have no idea what to make him for Christmas!

He's not your typical guy, so crocheted ties or tool accessories won't work, and he lives in California, so hats and scarves are out (plus he doesn't really wear hats to begin with).

I'm thinking about making a neck pillow, since he and my best friend travel a lot (plus he has a stressful job, so I figured he could use this to take a quick lunch hour nap in the car), but I'm just not sure.

Any suggestions/comments? They will be very much appreciated!

Here's a few ideas of things I've made:

Felted seat belt covers, Felted auto toy pouch, Seat belt cover, and armchair pouch.

If he drinks coffee, coffee cozy. Pop cozy....if he drinks lots of pop/soda.

You might search through Crochet Pattern Central under different topics to get some other ideas.

Good luck!

My BIL in LA, CA, asked for a beanie/skull cap this year...he shaved his head, and now it gets cold in their version of winter! :) so maybe...

esp if he likes some of that trendy stuff.

also like your idea of the neck pillow.

Rice pillow might be nice too...smaller pillow, rice in cotton/flannel "liner"...makes a nice hot/cold pack...cotton yarns work best for this one.

I agree with the rice bag idea... I gave everyone in my family one and they LOVE them!!

I sewed two pieces of material together leaving an opening and filled about 3/4 of the way full of rice then machine stitched it closed

I crocheted a rectangle using an H hook and cotton yarn chaining on 35 stitches about... I just sort of guessed the number of rows but then when it securely fit the rice rice bag I joined up the sides leaving a center slit..I attached buttons or snaps... everyone around here uses theirs!

Lea, love how your rice bag looks! great idea with the center slit...I've done it with the end having a fold over pocket (gone now, no px) but I like your idea better....hmmmm...time to go through the cotton stash :)
