Boy Gift ideas

Everyone was such a help with the mens gift ideas, I'm wondering if anyone knows of some really cool boy toys for age 6 and a baby.. ... I would love to make something educational, but can't really think of anything.. any ideas?

You can also search on ebay for ideas. You don't have to buy the patterns, but you can look for the ideas in the patterns section.

 

I've also seen large ball pillows that would be fun. It does depend on the boys. My sons love stuffed animals and their afghans.

There is a pattern out there somewhere for a shape sorter for a baby. That's educational, and fun! For 6 yr olds, well they like just about every animal out there! The snakes and bugs are always the best!

Thank you ladies for replying.. A shape sorter!!!!! Now THAT would be awesome!!! I think I will go for some kind of a snake for the older one maybe? I wonder if I google, if I can find the shaper sorter? do you remember where it was?

I have a turtle pattern from the 70's, Womans Day, I think. It's made to cover butter tub with dried beans in it for a rattle toy. You can stuff it for a soft toy for an older kid instead.

This is a good thread because I think we all have faced this problem.

 

What I did for my youngest son (now turning 20 next week!!!) I hooked a big boy doll, about 2 1/2 feet tall, and dressed him in real boy clothes that had been fav's of my son ... a Red Sox hat completed the look.

 

This doll was something he had out in his room his entire childhood because it wasn't actually babyish with that hat on it. And yet while he was little I would often see him with it at bedtime.

 

For the pattern I took a regular hooked doll body pattern and added to all the dimensions as I went.
