Question about Boteh scarf pattern

Recommended Posts

I have wanted this pattern ever since I have seen it. I love the look of it. I've looked at samples, but really can't figure out how the motifs go together.

Yesterday, I saw this:

So, now I have to ask. Can someone who has made this pattern (the Boteh Scarf) or looked closely at it (Interweave Crochet Spring 2007--I think it's 2007) tell me if the motifs are attached the same way as the ones in the above link?

Because if they are, I am taking this project off my WIM list *right now* and will remove the pattern from my mental wish-list. I am not going to make a lot of motifs and attach them with chains after the fact. :no

Thanks in advance! I just want to know that the scarf is assembled 'as you go,' and I'm good.

Thanks, Angela!! I'm happy to know...and will keep the Boteh scarf pattern in mind. I don't know how or when I might be able to get a copy of the magazine and/or pattern but at least I know I still want to!

(and P.S.--now that my swap partner has her package, I can tell you that I made your Quahog Beach Bag out of jute twine--very nice!)

Do you have a link to the scarf? I don't know what it looks like.

Here are a couple of peeks at projects, including the magazine so you can see how it looks there.

Looking at it again just reminds of why I want to make one.

Someday!

There are a couple of threads about it here on the Ville; this one has a really good picture: http://crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=59333&highlight=boteh

Link to the Interweave info (smallish pic and materials list, no pattern) is here, scroll down to it http://www.interweavecrochet.com/issue/2007/spring/materials_list.asp BTW, there is a correction to the written pattern on the site.

Krakovianka, can you not order the magazine from the Interweave website? On the checkout page, when filling out your address you can choose the country, so it looks to me like they would mail it to Poland.

It is an interesting pattern. When I saw it in the magazine I didn't really like it too much. But the other day I saw it "in person" at an LYS, done in a gorgeous hand-dyed alpaca, and it was lovely! Still don't know if I will ever make a Boteh, but it definitely made me want to make something with that tiny, soft, drapeable yarn.

I know I could order the magazine from their website, but by the time I paid for the (fairly expensive) magazine, plus shipping to Poland, it becomes a pretty expensive pattern--and that pattern is really all I want, not the whole magazine.

I wonder if there is anyone who doesn't really like the pattern and would be willing to snip the pages from the magazine. Maybe I'll post in the buy/sell/trade forum and see...I'd happily trade a Polish crochet magazine for that pattern...

I've made two of these scarves and LOVE how it turns out. It's a very simple pattern, really, and goes by fast. The latest one I've been working on is in a alpaca/silk blend, and I think it's turning out wonderfully. Good luck getting the pattern.

Krakovianka, I agree with you that 7.99 is a lot for a magazine, and I of course have no idea how much shipping would be. I will say it is a good issue. My favorite part is the lesson by Marty Miller on foundation chain. it's not really hard, but I had a hard time "getting" it, and the way she broke it down by starting with extended stitches made it easy for me.

I wish I could bring myself to cut out the pattern and send it to you, but I just hate to dismember the magazine by removing a page....I would LOVE to have a Polish magazine, just to drool over the pictures. I really do not need any more doily/mat patterns, but I love them!

Hey i just saw your other thread.....it surre didn't take long to line up a trade....Congratulations!
