Galadriel Costume advice

Lady of Shalott

Question

I'm attempting to make a MyScene barbie sized Galadriel (from Lord of the rings) dress. I want it to have an overlay of glitter or metallic crochet thread over a white/cream basic dress. I have several questions to achieve this:

Does anyone know of a crochet stitch (or series of rows) that will create an open work type of look that is somewhat flowery??

Does anyone know where to get metallic/glitter crochet thread??? Like what company is the best??? :yarn

And does anyone know of a good medieval looking (i.e. bell-sleeved) barbie sized dress that I can alter to fit a MyScene barbie???

I know, that's a lot to think about... but I'm still in the process of figuring out how to do this. Any help would be VERY appreciated. :)

http://www.kreinik.com shows lots of different glittery/metalic threads. almost all their patterns are made in it (which is a bit much imho) as for stitch patterns.. there are just so many! i tend to look at afghans and things like that online until i see something i like then pinch the stitch repeats :D it works!!

Love knot or Solomon's Knot would be nice:

Picot Arch Mesh would also be nice:

The Lionbrand Lame posted would be nice.

Be sure to check out Coats and Clark Knit-Cro-Sheen Metallic Crochet Thread. They have several choices.

Freebies.

Graduation gown, I think the sleeves are the best so far:

This isn't medieval looking but you might make the sleeves work, especially if you lengthen them a bit:

Maybe you can use this one:

Another one that might be workable:

Here is something to work with if you want to make a matching Ken outfit:

I went through these and didn't see anything off hand. Maybe you will.

Lots more here. I only skimmed through a few:

Pay for patterns.

You're going to have to adjust them all to fit a My Scene.
