I can't recall the exact period, but I put Christmas stuff for one of the upcoming Swaps. I think November/December. Of course, doing a Christmas Stocking CAL is a great idea! <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/bounce012.gif" />

I started my first sock last night. I had a bit of trouble working out the sizing, since my feet are small in comparison to my ankles. Also this was my first attempt at front and back post dc; I had to consult several books before I was convinced that I was actually doing the right thing. So I've only done about half an inch, but I love the yarn and I'm enjoying trying something new. <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/sheepjump.gif" />

I see the warts. :thinking2 I wish I could help. The only thing I can think of is that will happen if you increase too quickly. :shrug ? ? ?

My sock is growing so slooowly, I can't believe some of you have already finished a pair! If only I didn't have to go to work! Actually I'm finding the small hook and light-weight yarn a bit hard on my hands, so I have to take lots of breaks anyway. Maybe I'll make shorter socks than originally planned. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/tongue.gif" />

well, i've begun again (completely started over) with that ripple sock pattern. i'm fairly sure that it is off. i have never made socks before, but i'm pretty sure this is not right. i'm going to start again later. kinda angry about it all right now>:

i'm going to do pfirsch's purse pattern and then come back to these and take tons of notes and do some switching around and see if i can get it figured out.

should anyone else get the gumption to try and give this pattern a go, i'd love to hear your results:pig

Wanted to let you know that I am half done with my 1st sock and am lovin' it! It's fun to make something to wear--I don't usually.<img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/bounce012.gif" />

Also, I just found this cool sock pattern, which is going to be my next try: <a href="http://www.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/lionbrand/index.fcgi?page=http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/index.html" target="_new">"joan's socks" at lion site</a>.

Joy--I couldn't find any sock yarn at my Michaels--just wanted to warn you ahead of time. I am wondering how baby yarn, or microspun would work--I know they have those there.

Great, Joy! :woohoo I've added you to the list. Have fun! I don't have a favorite sock yarn yet because I've only just started crocheting socks.

That's great, Michelle! :thumbsup Glad you're enjoying it! Thanks a ton for the link, I've added it to the list of sock links. :bigsmile

Well, I did it... Went to Michaels, and you're right no sock yarn, that I could see...Then this sock book jumped off the shelf into my cart...and I had to pick it up of course to see...and there was the cutest pair of ankle socks in there that called for cotton yarn...and I turned around...and there on the shelf calling me was Lion Brand Cotton-Ease...so two skeins fell off the shelf right into my basket. Well if that all wasn't bad enough there when I turned around was a book on book markers which begged to come home also, and that of course meant....you guessed...thread. $30 later I decided I better get the heck out of there cause my dears was waiting in the car for me, and I might have to explain all this. I knew only you all would understand and sympathize.
