Darcee, I am so sorry about your mom..... perhaps you could use your butterfly bag to hold photos and other memories of your mom.....

:manyheart Noreen http://www.hankeringforyarn.com

Please count me in on this. I've not done a CAL yet. My mother has been gone for 11 years and butterflies were her passion. I want to do in memory of her.:clap :clap :clap :clap

Hi Riohnna,

The Crochet along butterfly bag is a 'stash buster'. You can use up all kinds of bits and pieces and bibs and bobs and never have to buy anything at all - I betcha you've got everything you need already! LOL!

:D blessings

I might,,,it will depend on how much of what type of materials I need.

;) Well, Carla, if you don't want to go shopping, you really don't have to!

I'm doing a couple of bags for the crochet along (I am also doing a spoolknit along at the same time), and have frogged a couple of projects and am re-using yarn from other things..... I love 'reclaiming' yarn!

:clap It's all good! Noreen http://www.hankeringforyarn.com

id like to join this one too.

providing we dont have to go buy some special yarn or thread LOL

Wonderful, Kim! BTW I love your cat pic! My cat is in my lap right now, trying to stop me from working with sari silk. She wants it all for her! :lol

Silly cats!

:) Ah, thanks so much! NO.... the green butterfly bag that is part knitted, part crocheted, is ~not~ the bag we are making for the CAL. It IS the bag that inspired me to start this CAL......

and :manyheart:hug back atcha~!

:hookNoreen http://www.hankeringforyarn.com

Noreen, I saw the butterfly bag pattern on your blog...it is gorgeous! However, is it partially knitted and partially crocheted? Is that the one for the CAL? Or is there going to be a butterfly bag that is all crocheted?

Hi Debbi

Yes, I will be doing a totally crocheted version of the green knitted/crochet embellished butterfly, but not until I have completed the CAL Butterfly bag.

:) thanks and :yay Noreen http://www.hankeringforyarn.com

I love the bag too, the colors are wonderful. But I don't knit (well I can sort of, well not really... but choose not to). I would love a crochet version too, could that be possible? It looks like from your talent you could do that.

Thanks.

Debbi

I must also respectfully bow out. It's all the non-crochet parts, especially the sewing part...I didn't get my sewing machine :( . Tuesday Morning ran out before I got there...said people were lined up when they opened ready to purchase one. Oh, well!

Thanks anyway, Noreen. It's a lovely bag!

So sorry that you didn't get your sewing machine....:(

I do the sewing for the bags by hand, as it's so much more portable, and contemplative.....

Instead of sewing, you can pin your butterflies and flowers and such to the background, and connect them all later, which is how I did the 'inspiration' piece....

Noreen,

I think I'll give it a try. I'm going home to visit my mom in a few weeks and she not only has a sewing machine but will be able to help me out a bit with the sewing part of the project. I will try out a few of the butterfly and flower motify in the meantime.

I plan on making your butterfly shawl soon, I have ordered the issue of Knit 1 and am just waiting for it to arrive.

Right now I'm finishing up a butterfly quilt for my new little girl. I'm using a free pattern I found online for a pineapple butterfly motif and I'm using all of my scrap yarn. I think it will be really neat!

Thanks for sharing all of your beautiful projects with us! I look forward to seeing how the purse will come together.

Hi Sheila!

I hope that you'll have fun with it! and I hope that your Mom will, too, as she stitches with you :)

Our son is getting married in less than 2 weeks, and I have a ton to get done for his wedding, so the butterfly bags are going slower than I would like!

I have a bunch of pics in the camera that I need to photoshop and get up, so will work on those and get them up, asap!

Hope you'll enjoy the butterfly shawl! I made one in silk that I spun, for my daughter's wedding. (She's getting married this summer, too.... eek!) And, in between the weddings, I go off to Manchester NH to teach workshops!

What a summer!

I look forward to seeing your pics of your Butterfly bag and shawl!

:elle Hi Noreen,

I just saw this new CAL, and 'tis excited I am to be involved in another of your fascinating creations! I have missed it! I hope the wedding was wonderful.

I have been wearing the butterfly shawl a lot, and I found a butterfly sort-of 'pin' to tie it together in the front.

I have tons of thread that is encroaching on my living space, so as soon as some exigencies are somewhat settled, I will begin!

:artist

It's nice to have you back, and I thank you for doing this for us!

Hello Zuzu!

:hug Lovely to hear from you!

I am so pleased that you are going to take part in this CAL!

I am still in the thick of wedding preparations :eek (eep!)

Our son gets married in less than 2 weeks eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

I am having a lot of fun with the Butterfly bags, but they are going rather slowly, because of all the wedding preparations :)

I just uploaded another posting about some more very simple little flowers:

Dear Noreen,

I have looked at your web site at the lovely bag.

I am sorry to hear about the death of Jim's Mum. She is held in your heart .

Putting the shawl over the bride of your son must have been a beautiful moment.

I am still trying to finish the small project I was working on. :help

"Trying" , as in, it is in a bag on the floor, and I am walking around it as I attend to, or avoid more pressing matters.

I don't know when I could ever work on more just now. (and I have gotten more ideas that I want to start!)

I love the jacket you are wearing, and I have long wanted to make one similar. I have many Irish Rose flowers and leaves, some quite complex, and some assorted butterflies, that are in a bag, in another pile, for over a year!

Yours is gorgeous! Did you wear it to the wedding ?

(I couldn't tell from the photo)

I hope things are going better with the cat. :cat

:doglove, Zuzu

I'm a new member and I'd love to be in on this butterfly thing. We are headed home from a 2 week vacation come Thursday, but I'd love to hear more about this.
