im just now getting into thread, and im looking for small things to practice with

so far ive made one of these http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=11464

i only have a purple varigated (size 10) thread and a size 7 hook

i dont want to make more bookmarks because i dont want it to damage my book with its thickness (i put the one i made in my book to see how it was...)

im considering a snowflake but i dont know how it'll look with the purple

maybe a smile doily would be good?

How about some coasters. They would be small and would look good in your color. There are lots of patterns here. http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/coasters.php

Wishing you the best of crocheting.

A small simple doily pattern would look good in the variegated. Suncatchers, coasters, a sachet bag, soap holder, choker, earrings. Most of those kinds of things can be found on CPC and there are probably a bunch of other ideas I haven't EVEN thought of! Good luck and let us see what you make!

You can make small sachet bags. Your purple varigated would be great for dried lavendar! If you want them plain, just make 2 squares and sew them together with the dried lavendar (or other) inside. Or make round ones. I've quite a few of these for little gifts for family and friends.
