you could make the doily in yarn with a G hook for all it really matters :) so long as you have the hook/yarn ratio right go for it! your results will be bigger than that of the one listed. sometimes you find things don't look as delicate when done a bit bigger but this is no matter, it could be just the look you're after! experiment, be bold, give it a try. there are no rules, the only limit is yourself abiding by the "unwritten laws of crochet". those are the ones some people never ever break. ie, always use the exact thread and hook specified in the pattern, only follow the pattern exactly as written. well phooey to that! it's called "creative license". run with it, show us what the results are!

I do this most of the time. It turns good, the only difference is size. It comes bigger/smaller depending the size of the thread and hook.

 

It will turn out good.

Yes, you can change to any size hook or yarn or thread that you want to use. Just remember if you go to yarn its going to be bigger, but could be for a bed or couch..If you go to thinner threads then it will be smaller...bigger or thicker threads then bigger...etc........have fun~~~~`````
