cozy crochet

I don't have it, but I looked at it while in the bookstore. I had read somewhere that it wasn't that good and I must agree. If you are a beginner, it's a good choice. If you aren't just starting out, you'll probably find it boring.

The execution is very nice, but the content is lacking.

I've actually made up several of the patterns in this book. Many are simple, and may not be sufficiently challenging for the advanced crocheter, but I'm still pretty new at this and found them to be excellent for my intermediate skills. I also was glad to find a book that didn't have a lot of clothing patterns, because I'm much more into accessories and home decor at the moment.

More specifically, the kerchief pattern is one of my favorites for using up extra yarn. I have several friends with long hair who are always happy to have another in a different color. The boyfriend hat was a great last-minute present for my father -- the pattern is simple, but he won't wear anything too fussy. I've also made a couple of the reversible scarves in a light chenille as gift for friends. I was intrigued by the reversible effect and the finished product didn't disappoint! The throw rug and skirt are on my to-do list as well.

All of the patterns are very "clean," meaning there isn't much embellishment. That suits my taste to a T, but I can see where it would be too "modern" for some.
