My stuffing is showing

Ilah

Question

I am in the process of making my first crochet stuffed animal, a little bear. I have completed the main body except for the closing the top. When I stuff it, I can see the stuffing between my stiches. I tried putting less stuffing in, but it looks too skinny. I did the same hook I normally use with the yarn I am using, but maybe for stuffed animals you need to use a smaller hook so the stiches are tighter. Or maybe there is some other trick to stuffed animal I don't know about.

Please give me some advice.

:cheer Depending on the size of the toy, try putting some (unworn) Pantyhose into all the spaces and putting the stuffing inside that.

:cheer This is a fairly common problem with crochet, compared to knitting where the stitches are closer.

:cheer There is bound to be someone here who makes toys, who has the perfect answer for you, but mine will give you something to start off with.

Have fun.
