treasure trove

Recommended Posts

My birthday was yesterday and I received the coolest gift from my step-grandmother ("Aunt Jo"). She is 93 (!) and has been an avid crocheter all her life. She continues to crochet some but has slowed down quite a bit in the last couple of years. She gave me all of these pattern books and hooks along with some yarn.

Aunt Jo focused much of her interest on baby items - layette items baby blankets etc. - so there are a lot of old baby patterns. (She showed me the little 3 piece outfit she made when I was born 36 yrs ago) The old yarn chart is interesting too as the brand corresponds with a bunch of her patterns so it will be useful to compare modern yarns with those called for in those vintage patterns.

I also love the way she stored her hooks in my grandfather's old cigar cases!

That is a treasure! I can't see the pics, but just from what you've described, it sounds like something you'll have lots of fun with.

ETA - okay, I see the pics - looks better than I pictured! How cool!

Oh wow!

The "vintage" patterns are in great condition and you even have a thread chart!

Now what a cool aunt!

It's up to you to pass on this craft to this and the next generation!

Happy Crocheting!
