Not all projects work out

Hi,

I made this hook case Friday to see what people thought. Unfortunately as I was finishing it I broke it. But I thought I would post a picture that doesn't show the damage :devil and see what people think. I have tried four hooks in it up to #7.

What a heartbreak eh? Hopefully you can salvage the hardware. VERY nice looking though.

Say.. i was talking to a pen maker at the Woodcraft store yesterday and he mentioned guys using "superglue" for finishing. If you haven't tried it, it might be worth a shot. I guess it leaves a very hard shell.

CA glue is great for finishing but it does wear off and you need to spin it with the right kind of plastic or use your finger until it is dry. It works but it is not my favorite. I do use it all the time to stabilize spalted or soft wood. Some of the alder that I have turned was so soft that without the CA it would come off in chunks.
