I'm interested to know what everyone's top 3 favorite yarns to work with are. Please share--what are your go-to's and why? Please include brands, lines, availability, make, sources (links welcome!), etc.

For example, my top favorites are:

1. Best for price. Caron, Simply Soft line acrylic yarns. Pros: Cheap, soft, and a lovely variety of softer colors. Easily accessible in my area (via Walmart). Cons: Smaller amount means buying more for bigger projects. Best for small projects like hats and baby accessories. www.walmart.com

2. Best for natural fiber. Camelot Dyeworks, worsted weight, alpaca/merino/silk mixes. Pros: Gorgeous, gorgeous colors!!! Natural fibers create a sturdy yet soft yarn, versatile for different types of projects. Cons: Expensive for small amounts. Best for smaller projects as well. Extra cost for shipping, as it is not as local. www.camelotdyeworks.com

3. Best for versatility/weight. Red Heart with Love line yarns. Pros: Awesome selection of more natural and

less "baby" colors, as well as really unique variegated colors. My favorite part is the weight of the yarn (med/4), which is this perfect balance in between "chunky" and a regular worsted, which makes it great for the chunky crochet look without extra bulk or heft. Cons: Slightly more expensive (though there is more yarn). Best for cool weather accessories and/or bigger projects. www.walmart.com or www.redheart.com/yarn/love

I've only bought yarn from national store chains, so my favorites are limited to cheaper yarns....

Cotton: 4-ply & 2-ply - Premier (except the 4-ply white is awful)

Acrylic: Worsted - Lions Brand and Caron Simply Soft.  Dk/Fingering - Bernat

Chenille: Premier, but Red Heart's Velvety is on my list of yarns to try

Roving: Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable & Treasure

Hard for me to pin down one or a few favorites....I guess it depends on what I am working on at the moment, or what I just got notice of a sale on  :lol

But I can name a couple---

Favorite fiber for garments for myself:  Linen and blends.

For pure linen, Louet Euroflax sport http://www.yarn.com/webs-knitting-crochet-yarns-fiber-linen-hemp-flax/webs-knitting-yarns-louet-euroflax-sport/   I don't love the cost of it but I love working with it, the way it feels, and it is easy-care and very durable.  The cost is due to the complex processing required to turn the flax plant into linen yarn.   Webs' quantity discount helps, and I've taken advantage of sale prices on it as well.

Linen blends:  Now-discontinued Berroco Lago https://www.anniescatalog.com/yarn_and_thread/detail.html?prod_id=116061&source=YHESEMG&gclid=CMn_-Kz9ocgCFY6EaQodpJAABA    It's mainly rayon but I love the texture of it, sorry to know it won't be available at all for much longer.

Plymouth Linen Concerto https://www.plymouthyarn.com/yarn/linen-concerto-item-867   it is about half linen and half rayon.  also has a great texture, very natural looking.   I made a poncho out of this and have a lot left over that I look forward to using.

Favorite yarn for price:  Stylecraft Special DK http://us.deramores.com/stylecraft-special-dk?gclid=CLq55uX-ocgCFQgaaQodRFcMBA

The color range is great, it is soft but sturdy feeling, and I really like the DK weight, just a bit lighter than worsted.  the "Lucy pack" of colors is what got me interested in it http://us.deramores.com/stylecraft-special-dk-medium-colour-pack    I bought a large box of it from a Crochetviller, and added some more colors from Deramore's (their shipping is reasonably priced and fast) and have really enjoyed playing with the colors.

I cannot choose only 3 since I use a wide range of brands and types, and it depends on the type of project.

Here are just a few that I enjoy and get more bang for my buck:

Acrylic: Lion Brand- Vanna's Choice & Unforgettable, Red Heart- Love & Soft, Bernat-Satin

Cotton: Lion Brand- Cotton Ease, Sublime- Egyptian Cotton.

Wool Blend: Sublime Yarns- Extra Fine Merino DK (washable),

Baby Yarn: Lion Brand, Bernat, Deramores- Baby DK
