Fixing knot in crochet

lindsay02013

Question

I am a fairly new crocheter and am currently working on a blanket made of a continuous granny square. I finished a skein of yarn and made the mistake of just attaching a new skein with a knot. I doubled the knot, but I cut the excess yarn off too close to the knot. Now it is unraveling. This wouldn't be a problem, except its near the center and I am quite far along in the project. Is there any way that I can fix this with out unraveling all of my work? I'm quite distressed about my mistake. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Perhaps you can try to stitch in place with a regular needle and matching thread. It's not the ideal thing to do but if you're careful enough, it might not be too visible.

I'd use a yarn needle and a piece of the yarn that's coming loose. If you follow the yarn through a couple of stitches before the unravel, then a couple of the same color stitches after, that should fix it without being too obvious. When you can, pierce through the yarn you're following; it'll make the repair more solid...and this time, leave a longer tail and weave it in :) (Not that I've ever done that, noooo, not like I've done it more than once...or twice...or three times...)
