Help - Beth's Little Star Afghan

Mintlipgloss

Question

Hi everyone. HELLLLP!!

I've begun working on the Little Star Afghan and I think I may have made a big mistake. Here's what it looks like so far:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/79604082@N00/50778883/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://static.flickr.com/26/50778883_7975394ea0.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Little Star Afghan" /></a>

Look at the bottom. The gap between the final DC and the SL ST to end the rows is HUGE, and it appears to be getting bigger and bigger. Did I make a mistake? Or does this hole close itself with the final row?

(Why am I afraid to hear your answer? :eek)

Thanks everyone,

Jennifer :)

I've had that problem when joining rounds before. It won't correct itself... sorry. I think you just have to join tighter. I don't know, hopefully someone can offer better advice.

It just looks like to me your last loop is just bigger than the rest.... You have to keep that last joining stitch pretty tight to get it to hold together the same size as the rest. Sorry!:( What a bummer!

If I were you I would tear out the green since that seems to show the most buckle. Then switch to a hook one size smaller for a row to see if that helps to tighten it up a bit and flatten the blanket. As for the points, pull tight when you get to the corners. If at the end of the blanket, you feel that the holes are too big, you could always thread ribbon through to hide it.

I love the colors, looks great.

Ladies,

Thanks so much for the help. I think I'll rip the green rows out (and maybe even the white before it) and try again.

Off to sulk and rip go I! :(

Thanks again. Cross your fingers for me! :)

:think You appear to have two rows of holes where you are joining and it should only have one.

:think The pattern is OK, I have made it.

Others have had similar problems to you so you are not alone.

:think I think it is all in the way we interpret instructions. Sometimes we think we know what it is going to say so we dont read the pattern properly, then blame the pattern. I did this the other day when trying out a pattern from the internet. Took me about 5 goes, then I read the pattern right through carefully and Bingo, it worked. So even the seasond crocheters can fall into the trap.

PM me if you would like some direct help. It is easier to help on an immediate basis rather than through this forum.

Have fun.

Colleen.:hug
