front post double crochet

Question

can anyone help me with the fpdc stitch? im having a hard time with this one. it goes like this...............................[(dc and Fpdc) in next st, dc in next 2 sts] 7 times, (dc and Fpdc) in next st, dc in last st, slip st in top of beginning ch – 32 sts; 8 Fpdc.

What is the pattern you're working on?

 

Front or back post double crochets are usually worked around a stich in the row below what you're working on.  By what you wrote, it seems to me that the front post double crochet would be on an angle.  Is it supposed to be?

looks like it is round 3 of this pattern http://www.redheart.com/files/patterns/pdf/LW2519_0.pdf

So, you are making a dc and then making an fpdc around the post of that same stitch that you placed the dc in the top of.

 

In the photo it looks like as you go along, you will actually be putting the fpdc around the post of the previous fpdc...to me the pattern doesn't say that but the photo looks that way....I think.  :blush
