Mop Cap Sewing Pattern

I am incharge of costumes for the school play.

 

I need a free pattern for a "mop cap" (like Laura Ingalls wore to bed).

 

I have found a pattern to buy, but the budget for this play is almost nil and the cap seems like it is simple enough that there should be a free pattern somewhere!

Mob cap: You don't really need a pattern. Cut out a large circle. Sew on elastic a couple inches in and tighten to fit the head. No need for ties, but you could attach lace or other edging.

Thanks. I thought it would be easy to "wing it" but thought a pattern would help.

 

I will try a "test' cap with some scrap fabric.

Here's an easy pattern for you to follow. I had to make my 23 yr old DD an Amelia Bedelia type hat for a college class & I came across this pattern. This pattern didn't work for Amelia Bedelia but I kept the link, just in case. DD is going to be an elementary teacher so I don't know what I might be asked for in the future! lol
