Yarn wrapped to tight

I was given some WW yarn and it has been wrapped into skeins but wrapped really tight. I am afraid the yarn has been stretched to much to recover. Is there a way it can be rewound so it will recover????

Is it acrylic? If so, you could try wrapping it loosely then put in a mesh bag and wash on gentle cycle, and then dry on a low heat to fluff it back up. Not sure about natural fibers.

It is an acrylic I think Coats and Clark or Caron, no labels, I do not have a dryer so I can not fluff it. Thanks for the reply

You might try wrapping it loosely around a wire hanger, then steam it for a while, either with a steamer, or over a pot of boiling water. Then reroll it loosely. Good luck!!

You can try rolling it in looser balls. If it doesn't get it's spring back, or only partially does, you can still use it double stranded to make rugs.

It's only going to spring back with steam and heat.

 

You can either hang it like was suggested or ball it, place it in a pantyhose leg and wash and dry it.

 

If you don't have a dryer at home you can either bug a friend or use a laundromat.

Thank you for all your suggestions, I do not drive and live out miles away from anyone. I will try the steam and see if i can salvage all this yarn. Thanks
