Materials:

Size 10 thread in two different colors
(flower color and stem color)
Size 7 steel hook (1.65mm)
Needle (to weave in ends)

Finish Size: About 31”inches long

Different Stitches:

Picot: Ch2, sl st in last dc made.

Note: Do not finish off until noted to.

Directions:

Loop: With flower color ch21, sl st in 2nd chain from hook and in each of the next 18 chains, Fold the 19 sl st’s just made in half, sl st in next chain and first sl st (this will form your loop).

Flower 1:

Rnd 1: Ch2, 4 sc in 2nd chain from hook, turn so you’re working in other side of same chain, 4 sc in same chain, join with sl st to first sc.
(8sc)

Rnd 2: [Ch2, sl st in next sc] Do this 7 times, ch2 and sl st in joining sl st of Rnd 1.
(8sl sts, 8-ch2’s)

Flower 2-5: Repeat directions for Flower 1 for Flowers 2 thru 5.

You should now have 5 flowers made; the following instructions are worked into Flower 5.

Ch1, sl st in same chain as sc working in between top two sc. Ch7, sl st in 7tn chain from hook (creating a loop to work leaf into), finish off and weave in ends.

Leaf: Join stem color with sl st to Ch7 loop, ch1, (1 sc, 1 hdc, 3 dc, picot, 3 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) all in same ch7 loop, sl st in same sl st that was used to form ch7 loop.

Stem: Ch225, finish off leaving a 5”inch tail.
Weave in tail on leaf.

Note: If you feel the bookmark is too long, just have a hardback or paperback book handy and as you chain check if it’s at a length you like.

Tassel: Cut 4-10”inch strands of thread in stem color and then cut 4 strands in the flower color. Insert hook into last chain made, fold pieces of thread in half over hook, pull strands and hook through chain to form a loop, take hook out of loop and pull loose ends through loop and pull taut. Make a knot to secure tassel (optional). Trim tassel to make sure it’s even or to desired length.

For use: The Stem Part goes inside the book. The Flower part lies on the cover of the book towards the top. Pull tassel through loop help keep bookmark in place.

Enjoy!!!!
