I can't read the size on my hooks!

GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! I love the Bates hooks, but I can barely, sometimes just can't, read the sizes.

 

Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions? I've tried a magnifying glass.

No, don't have that problem. You can get a sizer for crochet hooks: it has different size holes, you find the one your hook fits in and that's the size it is.

spray paint them or add a thin strip of stick tape to non pointy end, different colour different size, a touch of nail varnish maybe

It depends on the hooks... sometimes they are hard to see. I have so many hooks that I just look for one I can read

Get yourself a needle and hook gauge. Something like this. Just insert the hook into the holes until you find the one that fits!

I second that suggestion. I use bamboo hooks a lot and the size wears off after two or three uses. The Knit Check is a wonderful tool.
