Ironing Acrylic Baby Blanket

I made a pretty baby blanket. I used a ruffled border. I'd like to iron the border so it lays properly, but the entire blanket is made with acrylic yarn. How do I iron the border without melting it?

I don't think you can. Maybe you could try blocking it instead?

Actually, if you iron it, it will "kill" the acrylic fibers -- make them super soft and drapey -- but the will NEVER bounce back to original feel/size. I think that would probably undo your ruffle.

If it ripples now, after they wash it the first time, it will ruffle close to what you have, so redoing the boarder would be best. Or maybe the ruffles look good, sometimes they do. Just sort of turn them the way you would like and maybe spray with water to shape and block.

Lay a damp towel over it and iron the towel. It will kill the fibers, though - like TaleWeaverLa pointed out.

The problem with acrylic yarn is you get what you get. The border will lay the way it lays. I've seen ironed ghans and unless you get it just right they look awful.
