Cupcake Container

Recommended Posts

I wish I had a picture to show you. these turn out so cute! But, I don't because of being blind. Just try one and you will see for yourself. They

work up quickly. I am sure the girls in your life will love them! heck, I'm a grown up girl and I love it!

CUPCAKE CONTAINER

Size: Fits a 12 oz cottage cheese container and is about 6 inches tall.

Materials: Worsted weight yarn, wrapper color (I used pink), about 2 oz off white; I crochet hook; yarn needle; candy colored beads with large enough hole to get onto yarn; fiberfil stuffing.

Note: for most of this pattern, the ch 3 does not count as a dc. I do this because it fills in the "hole" at the beginning of rounds and gives it a more even look. I do note when it is counted as a dc. When it is not counted, skip this beginning chain and join in first dc. Also, I do not know the size of beads I use. I get them at Walmart in a thousand count bag. I can use the round facetted beads, but mostly use the ones that look like pieces of noodles.

Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc): Yo, insert hook from front to back to front around vertical post of next dc, yo and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), (yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice.

Wrapper: With pink or desired color, ch 4, join with sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch3 (do not count as dc), 8 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of first dc (skipping ch 3).

Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in each dc around, join: 16.

Rnd 3: Ch 3, * dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join: 24.

Rnd 4: Ch 3, * dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join: 32.

Rnd 5: ch 3, working in back lps only, * dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join: 40.

Rnds 6-12: Ch3 (this does count as first dc), * fpdc around next dc, dc in next dc; rep from * around, ending fpdc around last dc, join. If wrapper fits bottom of cottage cheese container (leaving some room for lid to be snapped in place), fasten off and weave in ends. If not, work more rnds until it does fit. Then fasten off and weave in ends. Glue or sew wrapper to bottom portion of cottage cheese container.

Icing:

Slide about 60 beads onto off white yarn before beginning. You will pick up a bead whenever desired, sprinkling them randomly as you go. You can add it after a dc or when two loops remain on your hook while working a dc. then work your yo and pull through last 2 loops on hook. I like this last method. it holds the bead more securely.

With off white, ch4, join with sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch3 (do not count as dc), 8 dc in ring, join with sl st in first dc.

Rnd 5: Ch 3, * dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join: 40.

Rnd 6: Ch 3, * dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join: 48.

Rnd 7: ch 3, dc in each dc around, join.

Rnd 8: (ruffle) Ch 3, 2 dc in joining, * 2 dc in next dc, 3 dc in next dc; rep from * around, ending 2 dc in last dc, join. Leaving a long end for sewing, fasten off.

Finishing: using a sharp needle that is larger in diameter than a sewing needle, punch hole on top edge of lid. Do not do this around outer edge of lid, but on top of lid. Punch about 24 holes, more if desired.

using long end, sew icing to cottage cheese lid by sewing through Rnd 7, not Rnd 8. this allows the ruffle to flop over the edge. Stuff before closing. Place lid on cottage cheese container and tada, you have a big cupcake container!

Sounds cute!!!!! Thanx for sharing the pattern. I'll def. copy this one.

P.S. I've already started the baby doll bassinett last night. It's working up really easy. I'll take a pic of it when I'm done.
