Magic crochet

Recommended Posts

Okay,

I haven't gotten the magazine in a long time

But, they have more than doilies in them

There is a lot of semble type crochet

You might want to see if they can send you a free magazine first.

It's not published anymore. Wish it was.

The patterns are written out a little bit. Usually the first few rounds of a doily and then anyharder or complicated rounds. The rest you follow a symbol chart. I loved that! And some of the harder or different stitches have how-to symbols.

They have mostly doilies. But also tableclothes. Runners. And sometimes other items. usually a clothing item (or more) in thread.

They focus on thread items.

In addition to what Debbi said, there are some issues that have sewing projects in them. The clothing is usually in a limited size range, sometimes for girls. Another similar magazine was Decorative Crochet.

Japanese books are the closest I have found to these old magazines, although there you only have the diagrams as the text is in Japanese.

I have read about European magazines that have thread patterns and symbol diagrams; I know Krakovianka has posted about the Polish magazines.
