Books on Irish and vintage crochet

Recommended Posts

Harmony Guides 220 More Crochet Stitches has about 10 pages of Irish crochet grounds and motifs. There are several grounds and motifs in Crocheting School a Complete Course, though they are not necessarily identified as such. I don't own a book that is just on Irish crochet, sorry.

What are you thinking of as far as vintage crochet?

J Leinhauser and R Weiss have a fairly new book, Crochet Lace, that has some really beautiful things in it--tablecoths and bedspreads made from motifs and filet...I can't remember exactly what all the projects are now...all home decor I think, no garments. My only complaint about this book is that it has no diagrams.

One book i really love and check out from the library frequently is Old-Fashioned Crochet by Eunice Svinicki.

Some wonderfull stuff here...warning it's a little addicting, I've spent hours looking in here. You will also need a PDF reader, and some of the files are rather large. The books are alphabetical by author, and some books are a mix of crafts, so you may have to do some digging. Also, the instructions may be a little funky. At least it's free!

Yes, I have spent many hours there :) I actually have made some items from some of the patterns. I think it´s great that they make old patterns available for everybody...for free! :clap
