What do i do with the extra

I have a problem. When i am working on a piece and my skine of yarn gets low, it starts to unravel and tangle. Anyone have any suggestions???

I tend to stop, find the loose end, and wind it into a little ball by hand. I do have fewer problems with this with center-pull skeins.

Yes, I have the same problem! I do the same thing, stop and untangle!

I get tangles sometimes too. I just straighten them out and keep working. It takes some patience but it's worth it.

Yep, this happens. You could always wind your yarn into balls beforehand. If you do that, be sure to wind loosely as the yarn will stretch if you wind too tightly. A yarn winder is a good purchase if you tend to wind yarn a lot. I have also found if I put my yarn in a ziploc bag so it doesn't roll around all over the floor (or sofa), it doesn't seem to be as tangled. I don't know why this would help, but it seems to. That's not to say it never tangles as sometimes it still does. And then I do what you all do -- stop and untangle it. If I'm making something where I'll need to change skeins anyway, I might just cut and move on, and untangle it later.
