Materials for both turtles:

Worsted Weight yarn in 1 solid color (for turtles body), 1 variegated yarn (for shell), and a small amount of a solid color for eyes.
Size E hook
Stitch Marker
Polyfil

Finish Sizes:
Turtle-2 ½”h x 2 ½”w x 4 ¼” Long
Tiny Baby Turtle: 1 ¼”h x 1 ½”w x 1 ¾” Long

Different Stitches:
Dc Popcorn stitch: 5 dc in next st, take hook out of loop, stick hook into loops of 1st dc, then stick hook in loop from before, pull up loop thru loops of 1st dc and ch1.
Sc Popcorn stitch: 5 sc in next st, take hook out of loop, stick hook into loops of 1st sc (in 5 sc group), then stick hook in loop from before, pull up loop thru loops of 1st sc and ch1.
Picot: Ch2, sc in 2nd chain from hook.

Notes:

When doing my sc decreases, sometimes I do them in the front loops only. It helps minimize the hole sometimes left when decreasing.

With different color solid yarn embroider eyes. What I did for the baby turtle’s eyes is before I pull the loop through the first dc of the Dc Popcorn st, I wrap the different solid yarn around the 2nd and 4th dc of the 5 dc group, tie the yarn off. Then I finish up the Dc Popcorn st.

Note: I would not recommend making the Tiny Baby Turtle for a baby or a child still putting things in its mouth. As it is pretty tiny and could be a choking hazard.
