Knitting this pattern in the round

I´m thinking of making something with this stitch pattern http://www.knittingonthenet.com/stitches/wavelattice.htm

 

But I´m going to knit in the round, and wonder if I need the "+ 2" stitches?

I´m not sure if these two stitches only are necessary when you knit back and forth on two needles?

Yes, you will need the plus 2 stitches because that is needed to make the pattern. Its a multiple of 6 plus 2. So you could do 14 stitches, 20 stitches, etc.

No, you DON'T need those two stitches. You have a single garter stitch selvage on each side, you don't need those in the round.

 

Also, keep in mind that you are always working on the right side in the round so when you do an odd ("wrong" side) round, reverse the stitches in the pattern.
