Recycling Sneakers to Sandals?

Somewhere in my web surfing yesterday, I could swear I saw instructions on how to use old canvas sneaker soles to make crocheted sandals. I didn't pay attention because I don't have any old canvas sneakers, but then I remembered some canvas slides that aren't too old, but are too big.

 

I've googled my heart out, and checked out my browser history, but I just can't find it. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Or does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks - I looked at the magazine yesterday at B&N, I'll have to go back and pick it up.

I looked all over my bookmarks, cuz I knew I saw it, too. It was in July Crochet! that I had looked at the day before. Glad to know I'm not losing my marbles!
