Basic Shawl Pattern

Does anyone make shawls?

 

I found a pattern for one. You make the beg ch as long as you want it and then you just do decrease stiches on each end and on the ends after you ch and turn. So my mom is making one using tr crochet and tr dec in last 2 sts. chain 4 turn, tr dec in first 2 st. its working fine. Have you seen a pattern like this. I just kinds made it up...

most of the ones like this that i've seen start at the bottom point and increase up - but with the same concept

hi, i also do it the way your mom is doing it, but what i do is make a ch as long as i want the shawl to be, then the first row i do dc in each stitch. 2nd and each one after, i ch 7 then skip 3 dc, and sc in next, do this across dc. then decrease with each row and then do the chain 7, and sc in next sp, ch7 and dontinue till end, do this until you have your shawl the size you want, just remember to decrease each row. :hug vicki
