Need help reading this hat pattern

OK, I'm new to crochet and I've just started working on a hat. I've seen this in a few patterns; can someone tell me what the red text means?

 

Rnd 12 Ch 1, *1 sc in each of next 10 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, rep from * to * around – 84 sc.

Work even in sc until crown measures 5 1/2" from center of crown.

 

Does it mean I need to just sc in each sc? Sorry if it's a dumb question.

Not a dumb question. You are right in your assumption. Just sc in the scs and keep doing that until the hat is as deep as you want it. Just be sure to mark the rows so that you know where to stop the rows once it's the right size.

There are no dumb questions:)) Yes to me it clearly is saying after Rd 12 just do sc until it measures 5 1/2
