Changing Colours

I need your help. I have been given a graph of tweety bird to make into a blanket. I know how to read the pattern, but I am unsure as to how to change the colours and do I cut the colour off at the end of each section, and how do I finish the ends off. I know there are a few of you out there that are working on these type of pictures, so I am hoping you can all pick your brains for me:think

Hi Samio I have the same issue I posted before I saw your post.I've started and I'm notivcing that it's pulling the work in carrying it across so I'm thinking I'm gonna cut if I'm carry over more than 2 stitches I'm gonna try a few things and then I may buy the leaflet I saw that teaches you how to do this.
